Palestine


Samira Badran is a Palestinian Visual Artist based in Barcelona. Her father Jamal Badran played a decisive  role in her artistic formation. She graduated in 1976 from the Academy of Fine Arts in Cairo and studied etching and painting at the Accademia Delle Belle Arti in Florence from 1978-1982.

Her works are focused on her perceptions of the Palestinian reality under occupation.  Collective memory , confinement and immobility are some concepts she has delt in her recent works. She  normally experiment with different techniques, ink drawings, watercolor, acrylic painting, collage, drawing on top photography, prints and animation.

She has exhibited his work nationally and internationally:: White Box Art Center in NY, Al-Hoash-the Palestinian Art Court in Jerusalem, Jordanian National Gallery of Fine Arts, Modern Art Gallery in Baghdad, Biennial of La Habana, La Tramontana in Chaillé-les-Marais, Washington Museum of Women in the Arts, Musée du Luxembourg in Paris, Gemeetemuseum den Haag, Rafia Gallery in Damascus, Foreign Ministry of Berlin...

She regularly teaches intensive drawing courses at the International Academy of Art- Palestine in Ramallah. Memory of the land is her first film.
