Jordi Grau Rebollo holds a PhD in Social Anthropology, is a professor in the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), and a researcher in the Research Group on Fundamental and Oriented Anthropology (GRAFO). He is also currently a member of the Working Group on Anthropology, Image, and Visual Culture (IVAC) of the Catalan Institute of Anthropology.
His predoctoral and postdoctoral training in Anthropology has taken place at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Queen’s University Belfast (Northern Ireland), the Granada Centre for Visual Anthropology at the University of Manchester (England), and Stanford University (United States).
His main research interests are in Audiovisual Anthropology (particularly the theoretical and methodological foundations of visual anthropology, the relationship between anthropology and film, ethnographic cinema, and fiction as a strategy for approaching reality) and the Anthropology of Kinship (mainly kinship theories, international adoption, the circulation of children, and cross-cultural comparison in the field of kinship).
