Co-founder and coordinator of the international platform ALCESXXI, Palmar Alvarez-Blanco is a professor of cultural studies at Carleton College, Minnesota. Her research focuses on systemic analysis and the historical tracing of problems and crises inherent to the capitalist system in its development.

Ten years ago, she conceived La Constelación de los Comunes, a self-managed research project, an open and ongoing archive dedicated to mapping and connecting self-managed communal processes that aim to transform the capitalist system in Spain. It also serves as a space for encounter, strategy, and collaboration, where knowledge, materials, wisdom, and practices are shared to collectively imagine "real utopias" as part of an alter-globalization movement.

In addition to publishing essays and opinion articles in various media, Palmar Alvarez-Blanco is the editor and coordinator of Abrir la visión. El legado de Toni Serra (2025), Contornos de la narrativa española actual (2000-2010): Un diálogo entre creadores y críticos (2014), La imaginación hipotecada: Aportaciones al debate sobre la precariedad del presente (2016). She is also the author of Pequeño tratado de amistad: hacia una política del respeto (2024), En ruta con el común: Archivo y memoria de una constelación posible (2020–2023) (2024), among other works.
