Edward G. Simmel was an American director and producer active mainly during the 1940s and 1950s. Specializing in educational and social short films, he directed several works teaching rules of conduct and etiquette, such as A Date with Your Family. His work was characterized by a formal and didactic style, aimed at guiding young audiences on proper behavior in family and social settings. Many of his productions were made under the production company Simmel-Meservey Productions, known for its postwar educational films.
