Éric Deroo is a filmmaker and author who has been working on the history of colonisation and colonial troops for the last twenty years.

Together with Pascal Blanchard, he is the author of the film "Zoos humains" (Arte, 2002). Together they have published numerous collective works, notably "Zoos Humains. Au temps des expositions humaines" (La Découverte), "Le Paris noir" (Hazan), "Le Paris Asie" (La Découverte), "Le Paris Arabe" (La Découverte), as well as some twenty books and as many films in their respective fields of interest.
